About

Stephen D. Wolpe, Ph.D. is a Vice President and Member of the Board of Directors of Khloris Biosciences, Inc. He is an immunologist who did his graduate work at University of Pennsylvania and his post-doctoral fellowship at Rockefeller University.  During his post-doc he made one of the first monoclonal antibodies to tumor necrosis factor, an important disease mediator and the target of drugs like Remicaid, Enbrel, Humira and others.  He also discovered the Chemokine superfamily of inflammatory mediators.   This work led him into industry, first with Genetics Institute (now part of Pfizer) and then the Wellstat Family of Companies created by Sam Wohlstadter, the founder of Amgen, Applied Biosystems and IGEN.  There he directed research in oncology, inflammation and metabolic disease, leading to the licensing of a diabetes drug to Sanofi.  After leaving Wellstat, Dr. Wolpe became a consultant for numerous biotech companies in the US, Europe, Israel and China as well as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence in the SEED Office, within OER in the Office of the Director of NIH.  Dr. Wolpe is an author on over 30 peer-reviewed articles and over 60 patents and applications.
